Kaipete (Davanagere)

Kaipete is one of the oldest locations in Davanagere. 'Kai'(pronounced 'kaayee' in Kannada) means 'coconut' and 'pete' (pronounced 'paytay' in Kannada) means bazaar. The location was known for selling coconuts, and hence the name.
The iconic Basaveshwara Temple and the school are situated at the centre of Kaipete.
