Gásadalur

Gásadalur is located on the west-side of Vágar, Faroe Islands, and enjoys a panoramic view over the island of Mykines. Name of the village may refer to goose (gæs) or woman called Gæsa. She was from Kirkjubøur and ate meat during Great Lent for what she was punished by confiscate all her belongings.She ran away to the place where Gásadalur is now. Till 1940, when stairs to beach where built, fisherman from there had to place their boats in nearby village Bøur. In 2004 tunnel to the village was built, it was last one settlement on the Faroe Islands connected to the road system. It's also very attractive to farmers, due to it's great qualify soils.
