Rajakatra is one of the oldest markets of Kolkata.It is a wholesale market for a variety of goods like , Cigarretes,Exercise books , Pan Masala, Bele leaf, betelnut,Candles , matchsticks, soaps etc. The market is owned by Maharaha of Burdwan but is on lease to Mundhra Family. There are residential quarters above the market and about 3000 people reside there . During the day , The number of persons in the market could go upto 20000 . There are more than six hundred fifty official tenancies . Some of the residents are there for generations
