On May 7, 2005, at around 14:50 MSK, it caught on fire from safety violations of fire works at the roof, assessed as in third-category difficulty. The roof partially collapsed, but the over 50 fire brigades pulled out several oxygen ballons from the fire that could have exploded. The fire was extinguished at around 18:30.
Demolition began in September 2015 and finished in January 2016.
