Matong is a village community in the central east part of the Riverina, New South Wales, and situated about 37 kilometres east of Narrandera and 26 kilometres west of Coolamon. At the 2006 census, Matong had a population of 194 people.

    ithink Matong is a lovely and friendly town with it's own little school that provides proper education to students that need it and also helps children in need catch up to all the other children. Matong has very well planned Bush Picnic every year and it helps you meet new people and also catch up with old friends. The Bush Picnic has lot's of FANTASTIC games and activities, some of these include: sheaf tossing, rolling pin tossing, colouring comps for the little kids and MANY MANY more things to do. If you happen to pass through Matong stop at The Matong Memories and have a look around, it's only open on weekends and the owner is very welcoming to new comers and tourists. If you ever come through youshould stop and have a look, don't forget to have a picnic in the park!!
