The 'Stratton Building' holds the administrative offices of the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. The building was built in the Kirkbride plan in 1848 and is/was the very first of its kind in the world.

The Kirkbride plan, created by American physician & psychiatric pioneer Thomas Story Kirkbride, consists of a central administration section with two wings, for male and female patients, branching out and behind it like a pair of bat wings. The administration section originally had a grand appearance consisting of a gable roof and a large central rotunda. Unfortunately, the central administration section suffered a fire around 1970 and was subsequently demolished, replaced by a new "building" around 1971-72.

The building no longer houses patients.
