Founded by Naziabuddaulah who was a Rohilla Yousafzai Pashtun and earlier served as a Mughal serviceman but later deserted the cause of the Mughals and joined Ahmed Shah Abdali in 1757 in his attack on Delhi. He was also a tribal chief in 18th century Rohilkhand, who in the 1740s founded the city of Najibabad in Bijnor district
After 1857 (Jang-e-Aazadi First) the fort was demolished. The Qila was used by Sultana dacoit who help poor by looting the rich.

  • Sultan Fort is not correct name.The correct name (as history of Rohilkhand) is Qila Patthar Garh.
  • nawab mehmood khan grand son of nawab najibuddola who was last nawab of najibabad fought gallantly against britishers in 1857 .he was imposed a sentence of transportation for life.he died in meerut jail awaiting sentence. we the people of najibabad are proud of him.his close relatives eg.nephew ahmadullah khan'brother etc.all laid down their lives.nawab was a great patriot& a UNSUNG HERO of 1st freedom struggle.it is a pity on part of govt and we people that QILA PATHARGARh a monument associated with 1st freedom stuggle is in shambles.....
