draw only border, public housing estate
The Coldfall estate was social housing constructed in 1927 and became an estate of council houses, maintained by Haringey council. In the 1980s Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher encouraged council tenants to become home owners and the estate is is now (2007) approximately half privately-owned by owner-occupiers. In 2002/2003 the council undertook a roof replacement programme for their housing stock on the estate and so it is clearly visible as you walk through the houses - those with very new roofs are likely to be council-owned (though many conversions to private owners have taken place in the subsequent years also).
