This northernmost hot spring in Japan is found near the western coast of Wakkanai, three kilometers south from Cape Noshappu that juts out into the Soya Strait. It was used in the old days by the Ainu people, an ethnic group indigenous to Hokkaido and the surrounding islands. The natural hot spring that gushes out from 1,200 meters below ground is rich in iron and salt contents. Water temperature is a little low (41℃). Water type: chloride. Good for neuralgia, aching joints, frozen shoulder syndrome, skin disease, women's diseases, cuts.
