Opened in 1952 and enclosed in the late 1960s as a modern shopping mall as Evergreen Plaza, and it became "The Plaza" sometime this millennium in part due to the bad reputation the mall had. In 2013, the mall was redeveloped by tearing down most of the mall (except the oldest 1950s sections) and rebuilding the Carson's, which remained.
