The Campbell River Museum and Archives was established in 1958 and is operated by the Campbell River Museum and Archives Society. It acquires archival material of historical significance to northern Vancouver Island, from the Oyster River to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, including the mainland coast to the east of the Oyster River and the islands between (including Quadra Island and Cortes Island).
The holdings include letters, diaries, manuscripts, photographs, oral interviews, reference library, local newspapers, maps and ephemera files relating to the ethnography, settlement and industrial history of the northern Vancouver Island area.
