This school was first established sometime in 1973 as Eastern Samar Provincial High School (ESPHS) as an adjunct to and as a requirement for the creation of the separate province of Eastern Samar. Later on it was renamed as Eastern Samar High School (ESHS) until it was subsequently renamed to its current monicker upon its nationalization.
