In this building the Space Shuttle launches are controlled. Prior to the Space Shuttle, all of the Apollo launches to the Moon were controlled from this facility. The facility has three "firing rooms," two dedicated (and still operational) for NASA-controlled launches and a third (since mothballed) for Department of Defense-controlled launches from KSC. science.ksc.nasa.gov/facilities/lcc.html
