William (Henry) Pit: ruins (Whitehaven)

The William Pit coal-mine was sunk in 1810, but to increase production another pit was sunk a short distance away in 1870-72, called Henry Pit. They were closed in 1955, and most buildings except a few on the foreshore have been demolished.
