Another James H. Puntin-designed building, Haultain School was named for the Premier of the North-West Territories (F. W. G. Haultain, 1897-1905). It was the first school built in Regina after the First World War (in 1920). An early principal of Haultain School was M.J. Coldwell, a city alderman in the 1920s and early 1930s and then leader of the Saskatchewan and later the national Co-operative Commonwealth Federation party.
