Aldendriel is built in the second half of the 15th century and was in the possession of the noble family of Van der Voort, who was probably has its origin at the small castle of De Voort in Groeningen. The castle came into the hands of the noble family of Van Well, who used the castle for a summer residence and hunting. The castle was in the possession of a number of nobles and noble families.
