Tingmosgang is one of the largest villages of Ladakh. It is situated 90 kilometers west of Leh. Tingmosgang is a name that keeps ringing like a bell in the heart of those who have had a chance to set foot on this wonderful paradise.
The village of Tingmosgang offers...
...perfect clean air, saturated with fragrance of flower and herbal incense and blessings of the omnipresent fluttering prayer flags.
two beautiful valleys of fields in "Y" shape with different kinds of standing crops.
...a roaring stream with sparkling pure water, dividing the big village into 2 parts, thus giving an appearance as if the "Milky Way" of the clear sky has descended down on the earth.
Because of its beauty and size and other factors, the 15th century A.D. king of Ladakh, Gyalpo Tagspa Bom chose Tingmosgang as the capital of his kingdom. His palace and temple located atop a hillock in the centre of the village, adding more beauty to it, are still in existence. An idol of "Awaloketishvar" (Compassionate Buddha) believed to have descended from heaven into this temple, keeps showering blessings on the villagers who are resultantly more kind and compassionate to all living beings.
