Once a private fishing camp, this Kane Count Forest Preserve shares the popularity of all our river properties. Its natural features were mostly destroyed long ago. The primary function was a gravel pit to the west with the railroad bridge linking the two sides of the river. Sadly, the gravel pit was converted to a dump by the city of Elgin. The Forest Preserve property does not have any landfill under it. However, there is no way to expand the size of the preserve property.
