Sanctuary of the Bien Aparecida (Well Appeared) Virgin

This Virgin is the patron-saint of the Santander Diocese and of Cantabria Autonomous Community.

The appearance of this small image (21cm) happened in 1605, in a window of an old chapel in he highs of Marrón-Ampuero. From 1905 on became patron-saint of the region, it was crowned such in 1955 by Bishop Eguino y Trecu. Its festive day is celebrated on 15th of Septembre with a huge concentration in the sanctuary.
