An 11th century motte & bailey wooden castle, originally known as Dunhevet Castle. The wooden keep was soon replaced in stone in the form of a circular shell keep. In the 12th century stone walls and a tower, which now leans, were added. The castle fell into disrepair after the Civil War, and large parts of the walls are missing now.
Grade I listed building
