This parcel was planted with only 4500 trees per hectare, 1.5m between rows and 1.5m distance in the row. Typical managed parcels are planted with around 6000 trees per ha so this was an experiment born out of necessity as the amount of supplied trees were not 18,000 but only 17,000 total, so we had not enough trees for this (last) parcel to plant it as dense as the big parcel. The first few years there were more problems with weeds growing in this parcel, but now the canopy is as dense as the bigger parcel, so it is very well possible to get a healthy managed tree plantation with only 3/4 of the usual amount of trees. For further discussion see the description of the larger parcel.
