These trees were planted in 1.5m x 1.2m grid so approx 5500 trees per hectare. In total (including the sparsely planted parcel) about 17,000 trees were planted (one year old) and cut at 5cm height. Then 3 years active management (by the Robinia Stichting) in the form of pruning to allow only a single main shoot to grow. Since then the trees have grown by themselves, some are now 15 cm diameter after 10 growing seasons. No thinning of trees has been executed yet as it did not make financial sense, there was not much interest in 8-9 years old trunks. We will see if there will be any interest in coming years for applications like fencing or play structures. Info about this forest (almost 9 acres): cor.vandewater@gmail.com
