On the top of the Sváb-hill, on the border of the nature protected area of Buda lies the newly modernized four-star Hotel Normafa.

This wonderful hill covered by forest, being the charming look-out place of Budapest was the most popular excursion place for the artist society of the l9th century. The well-known singer Rozália Klein once sung the great aria from Bellini's Norma under a big beech on this beautiful place. From this time on this place is called "Norma Tree" - which is Normafa in Hungarian.
According to the tradition this beech tree sprouted when King Matthias Corvinus was born in the 15th century.
The beech tree was struck several times by lightning and destroyed. It fell in 1927, but there is a memorial tablet on the site where the tree was.
