  • According to the ODA's Sustainable Development Strategy published 24/01/07: "Safeguarded habitat refuges, especially Bully Point, will be surrounded by log walls created using timber felled in site clearance. These walls will be reclaimed from other areas of the Park and used instead of the standard chain link fence used in construction zones, where feasible to do so, forming a protective and decorative boundary. Untreated log walls provide habitat features of great benefit to important groups such as reptiles, amphibians, specialist dead wood invertebrates and lower plants. They will also make a significant contribution to amphibian and reptile mitigation requirements." <http://www.london2012.com/NR/rdonlyres/38C84324-60BF-4442-AD58-2CE9F840A90B/0/SustainableDevelopmentStrategyFullversion.pdf>
  • But they've since changed their minds, now saying in the "GUIDE TO THE OLYMPIC, PARALYMPIC & LEGACY TRANSFORMATION PLANNING APPLICATIONS AND OLYMPIC VILLAGE (PART) AND LEGACY RESIDENTIAL PLANNING APPLICATION LOWER LEA VALLEY OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC MASTERPLAN & LOWER LEA VALLEY LEGACY MASTERPLAN FEBRUARY 2007": "Demolitions at Kings Yard will have a moderate adverse effect as will the loss of Bully Point Pond and some wasteland invertebrate habitats" No doubt the newts will be decanted.
  • It's the best pond I've ever seen in London. Great flora & fauna and much less rubbish than average, and so quiet and secluded. Can't understand how they could describe it as 'poorly maintained' in the planning application.
  • Drained by ODA contractors Morrisons 24th,25th May 2007
