municipality, draw only border, third-level administrative division

Bascapè is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 20 km southeast of Milan and about 20 km northeast of Pavia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,630 and an area of 13.1 km².

On October 27, 1962 Enrico Mattei, on a flight from Catania, Sicily to Milan's Linate Airport, died when his jet plane, a Morane-Saulnier MS.760 Paris, crashed in the countryside near Bascapè. Pilot Irnerio Bertuzzi and the American journalist William McHale were also killed with Mattei. Subsequent inquiries officially declared that it was an accident; it is widely believed, however, that Mattei was murdered by sabotage of the airplane.

Bascapè borders the following municipalities: Carpiano, Casaletto Lodigiano, Caselle Lurani, Cerro al Lambro, Landriano, Torrevecchia Pia, and Valera Fratta.
