Baraut is a city and a municipal board in Baghpat district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This small town is mostly inhabited by traders and farmers, most of the population consists of Jats, Muslims, Jains and Viswakarmas with Sikhs being the minority. The city is famous for its Jain temples and grand Jain functions organised every year. Baraut is at an average elevation of 231 metres (757 feet). As of 2001 India census it had a population of 85,822.

Baraut city is also the major centre of education . Digambar Jain College, started by the Gangaram Kishorilal Jain family and Janta Vedic college,started by Mahashaya Chaudhary Umrao Singh are famous. Master Umarao Singh was the founder teacher. In Baraut city all the courses are available up to the research level especially in the field of agriculture. The Janta(Jat) Vedic College is famous for its quality education in the field of agriculture. The newest institute DIET [District Institute for Education and Training] is set up by the education deptt. of UP in Baraut city at Barka road. Jain Polytechnic is famous for technical education.

  • Baraut is a charming town and a multi-religious center situated along the Delhi – Saharanpur State Highway in Baghpat District, Uttar Pradesh. It is 20 km north of Baghpat city and is about 55 km from Meerut. Baraut is dotted with many Hindu and Jain Temples and Churches and Mosques. The Digamber Jain Bara Mandir is the biggest and most noteworthy among them. A 3-day carnival organized during Mahavir Jayanti in the town is a major draw. Faula Pond, Lakko Wala Kua and Temple Ravidas Pond are some other spots worth paying a visit. Nearest airport is at Delhi. Baraut Railway Station is on the Meerut-Muzaffarnagar line of Northern Railways.

I am very thankful to God that he had selected such a nice and beautiful place for my birth. I like to eat chaat, dahi bhalle, gol gappe, jalebi, samose and so many other things which are very tasty and all are available only in Baraut with a unique taste. I always thankful for my teachers who made my life.

  • If you want to see worst jat type of people(sorry I am also jat) then visit this city between 9 t0 5PM . It looks like thousand's of gangster are walking in the town. I was brought up in baraut but get very depressed whenever I go there. Not a single educated person will like it. I have emotional attachment to this town because of my childhood.parents and it used to be nice in 80's and 90's but now I just hate it..dont ask why see for yourself between 9 to 5
  • sorry...even I don't have to write about this town...you can guess what kind of people live there by reading he post written here ....guys in village near this town don't get marry (at lest 40%) because they don't work/don't want to work because bezati ho jayegi agar delhi main auto riksha chala ke 10,000 kama liye to.....most of the guys under 30 year looks very healthy(weightwise) as there is only food available here milk/ghee(butter) and roti...if you ask some when did you last time eat any fruit ....answer will be ...jab mere ko last time bhukar aya tha.....I am not saying people in this town or nearby are poor...it's just the attitude....kuch nahee ho sakta hum baraut walo ka.....I would say I am from baraut(ancestors village is Makhmoolpur(kandhla))but same time I dont feel shame to explain the truth....apologiseif it hurt someone sentiments...sorry but truth is truth......
