barrow/tumulus/burial mound, scheduled ancient monument

This tumulus was partly excavated by Thomas Lord in 1961 prior to deep ploughing. At the centre of the mound was a crouched inhumation of a girl in her early teens, accompanied by an inverted beaker, two stone 'tools', a used quartzite pebble, and thirteen pieces of flint including a leaf shaped point. In the absence of total excavation the practice of single burial cannot be assumed.
