The last functioning Synagogue on the Island of Jamaica. The home of The United Congregation of Israelites, formed by the amalgamation of the Sephardic and Ashkenazi congregations in 1921. The building is on the site of an 1888 Synagogue which was destroyed in the 1907 earthquake. The current building was built, starting in 1911.
One of the few sand-floored synagogues in the world, a tradition in Sephardic synagogues.
