In1850 AD., acopper plate grant was unearthed from this village. this grant tells that Pallava king Skandavarman (491 AD.)gifted Kanchivayilgrama and four pieces of land in Adeyara -rashtra as brahmadeya .Later, in the reign of Parantaka Chola I there is an endorsement in Tamil dated in the 26th year (AD.932-3)recording the clubbing of Kanchivayil alias Iganmaraimangalam and Udayachandiramangalam into one village.Other copper plate grant was also found granted by Nandivarman II (AD752).It informs genealogy of the Pallava family.Therefore, this is an important charter.-M.GANDHI
