Notorious Prohibition-era Chicago gangster "Machine Gun" Jack McGurn was assassinated by three men using machine guns February 15, 1936, while bowling at the second-floor, Avenue Recreation Bowling Alley, at 805 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago. He was alleged to be involved in the planning of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre that occurred on February 14, 1929, which resulted in the death of five associates of Bugs Moran, plus two other individuals not part of his gang.
