Vrboska

Croatia / Split-Dalmacija / Jelsa /

Vrboska a small town and harbour on the northern coast of the island of Hvar, lies in a picturesque, deep cove surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and a forest of pine. It has a long tradition in fishing, presented in the Fishing Museum. The fortified church, which offers a wonderful view on the surroundings and the open sea, represents a unique monument. The village offers an unusual sight on a karst island: houses rising on both shores of a channel spanned by several small bridges. The churches of Vrboska house the greatest cultural treasures of the island of Hvar.
