city, capital city of state/province/region, draw only border

It is the centre of modern Zadar (Zara in Italian) and the wider northern Dalmatian region. Zadar is located opposite the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, from which it is separated by the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which the old city stands used to be separated from the mainland by a deep moat which has since become a landfill. The harbor, to the north-east of the town, is safe and spacious.

  • You can edit Italian version of the article and call it Zara there. Please don't rename English version into Zara, because Zadar is a Croatian town and this is it's only official name! Thank You!
  • Zadar is the croatian name, the original one is Zara. Write Zadar in the croatian version. Best regards.
  • Okay, no bulls**t, please. The original name is Diadora or Jadera in greek, if you insist. Zara was merely during Italian occupation, name never accepted among local citizens, who were mainly Croatians. Throughout the history, it was Croatian town and called Zadar. Check out wikipedia if you wish. By the way, it is my hometown so I guess I would know. Cheers.
  • Oh and also, why would you think it's better to put a wikipedia link that leads to disambiguation page (Zara), instead of puting link that points to the exact article, titled Zadar?
  • But Zadar is the name of Zara during Croatian occupation.Where is the true ?
  • or englishki, for a .
