Sunset Branch Library is a “Carnegie building” designed by architect G. Albert Lansburgh. It opened in 1918 at a cost of $43, 955 for the building and furnishings. In 1992, Sunset Branch was renovated. The building was seismically retrofitted and a ramp and an elevator were installed. Sunset Branch Library was the eighth branch established in the San Francisco Public Library system.
