sculpture, roundabout / traffic circle, green space
A major landmark for Birmingham's engineering past. Spitfire Island (though not shown on this image) has a sculpture by Tim Tolkein of three climbing Spitfires. It was voted the best roundabout in the country for two years in a row. It reflects the history of the manufacturing of the Spitfire aircraft in the area during the Second World War.
