  • There is a small portuguese fort in ruins where the last ones 12 soldiers to surrender at indian forces in 20 december 1961
  • No they didn't surrender. They stood there not knowing Diu had been invaded. Only when an Portuguese chief of Army staff came with Indian troops, they just left, taking the portuguese flag that was still hanging by the fortress. They left a lovely Saint Antony church and most lovely fortress, that Indian transformed in the last forty years in ruins...shame... Portugal never recognezid the invasion...
