Historic home built around 1790 by Major Henry Fitzhugh, son of William H. Fitzhugh, a British pioneer who owned one of the largest tobacco plantations in Virginia. One of three plantation houses that comprised the area. Ossian Hall and Ravensworth Hall were the other two. Ravensworth was where Robert E. Lee's wife lived during the Civil War after vacating their home overlooking the Potomac, which later became Arlington National Cemetery.
