Bad Ragaz (until 1937 Ragaz) is a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. Ragaz was originally a farming village, with the dissolution of the Pfäfers monastery (1838) the history of Bad Ragaz as a health resort began: in 1839 the connecting road between the Tamina Gorge and Bad Pfäfers was built; From the following year, the thermal water was transported to Bad Ragaz via a pipe system and the first purification plants (Hôtel Hof Ragaz) were installed in the premises of the old monastery administration building. In 1937 the place was renamed Bad Ragaz. Thanks to the commissioning of the Pizolbahnen, Bad Ragaz has also been a winter sports center since 1954.
