It stands in the heart of Retiro, in an exclusive neighborhood of Buenos Aires City. Its construction was commissioned at the beggining of the XX century by Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, a member of one aristocratic families of that time. She used to say that if she lived in a palace, her God deserved one as well. It was finished in 1916, designed by frech architects Coulomb & Chauvet. This basilica counts with many exquisite details: marble ornaments, important stained-glass windows, venetian tiles, blue granite, brass, silver and gold. It also contains the largest organ (french) of any church in Argentina.
