Singair Upazila (Manikganj district) with an area of 217.38 sq km, is bounded by Dhamrai and Manikganj sadar upazilas on the north, Nawabganj (Dhaka) upazila on the south, Savar and Keraniganj upazilas on the east, Manikganj Sadar upazila on the west. Main rivers are the Dhaleshwari, Ghazikhali and Kaliganga.

Singair is located at 23.8167°N 90.1500°E. It has 44151 units of house hold. Singair (Town) consists of one mouza. The area of the town is 8.31 sq km. The town has a population of 13567; male 50.62% and female 49.38%. Literacy rate among the town people is 29.9%.

Singair thana was established in 1919 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 11 union parishads, 140 mouzas and 236 villages.

Heritage: Fort at Fordnagar, Neel-kuthi at Baira, Imampara Jami Mosque (Paril), tomb of Ibrahim Shah (Paril, Naohadda), Mosque near Paril Bazar (1904).

As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 231628: male 50.47%, female 49.53%; Muslim 92.83%, Hindu 7.06%, Christian 0.02% and others 0.09% of the total population.

Average literacy 21.05%; male 26.8%, female 15.3%. Educational institutions: college 2, high school 21, madrasa 6, primary school (government) 69, primary school (non-government) 18. Laud use Cultivable land 16194 hectares, fallow land 80 hectares; single crop 16.9%, double crop 71.37% and triple crop land 11.73%. Cultivable land under irrigation 51.5%.

Land control Among the peasants, 23.06% are landless, 27.36% marginal, 27.43% small, 21.58% intermediate, 0.57% rich; cultivable land per head 0.07 hectare.
