Five Simultaneous underground detentions as part of the Plowshare Program.

From www.shundahai.org/area_30_nts.htm
"Buggy was designed to develop nuclear excavation technology for digging canals or mountain passes. Five small devices were spaced 46 meters (150 feet) apart at a depth of 41 meters (135 feet) and detonated simultaneously in early 1968. The result was a trench 255 meters (835 feet) long, 77 meters (254 feet) wide, and 20.6 meters (67.5 feet) deep."

  • Interesting.
  • something wrong with those numbers. 255 meters long looks good and so does the 77 meter width but where did they get 206 meters deep when the devices were only buried to 41 meters and falling rubble would have partially filled the holes?
