History: Known as the Colt House, this building was constructed sometime between 1750 and 1790. Samuel Colt was the earliest known owner. He was partner in the boatyard located directly behind the house. He also built the Old Colt Store on the corner of Maple and Main streets. the house stayed in the Colt family until the beginning of the 20th century. Originally only consisting of four rooms, the house has been added onto several times during its history.It housed the New Era newspaper in 1874, the Chester Club in 1911, a barber shop and a doctor's office. it was rstored by Robert Klump.
