Linley Hall, a Palladian country house, was built by Henry Jones for Robert More in the late 1700s. More was an M.P. for both Bishop's Castle and Shrewsbury. He was also a botanist and was the man who introduced the larch tree to England.
The house lies within a small park which is approached from the south by the mile-long Oak Avenue.
