 hydroelectric power station/plant  Add category

This brick building, attached to the Wheaton and Hollis Hotel, helped bring Bodie into the 20th century. It houses transformers once used for powering the Standard Mill. You can see what is left of the white paint that covered the walls.

The hydroelectric power plant was built on Green Creek 13 miles away and first supplied power to the Standard mill in November 1892. The transformers located in the building today belonged to the Roseklip Mining Company, which was active in Bodie between 1935 adn 1942.
