Collection of famous victorian and craftsman mansions, some of which appeared in Hitchcock movies. He was a fan of this area in general and this street in particular. As Santa Rosa once hid Machinegun Kelly from the FBI and helped hide other mafia hit men over the decades the dirt and seamy underbelly of the city are an invisible theme compared to these beautifully maintained homes which survived the 1906 earthquake and sit atop a major faultline today. These secrets inspired Shadow of a Doubt, a classic Hitchcock thriller. Easy to view by car, better on foot or bicycle.
