This was the erstwhile Dibru River. During the devastating earthquake of 1901 and 1950, Dibru changed its course from the present day Maguri beel, and plunged into Lohit ( a tributoty of Brahmaputra) there near Guijan. Since then, this part of the river dried up and it took a shape of Oxbow Lake.
