The residence of the Turkish Ambassador to the United States, former mansion of Edward H. Everett which was designed c. 1914 by Oakley Totten, Jr. Everett was an industrialist who invented the famed bottle cap for Coca-Cola Bottles.

The Republic of Turkey purchased the mansion in 1936 for their diplomatic use. Ahmet Ertegün, son of the second ambassador of Turkey started opening the residence for jazz concerts. The ambassador was once asked in a letter from a U.S. senator why so many black people were coming and going from their front door in the height of segregation. He responded "Our friends enter through the front door, and should you ever come by, we will gladly let you in the back door".

That tradition of holding concerts continues on as The Embassy Series where the public are allowed to attend.
