Water captured and stored in the Plynlimon catchment area is channelled through waterways and tunnels to this power station. The final tunnel to here runs from Dinas, above Ponterwyd, and is 2.75 miles long. The water falls over 600 feet through the tunnel to provide the energy to drive the turbines. This is the second stage in the Rheidol power generating scheme, the first being a smaller plant at Dinas.
