History: Although the actual date of construction is not known, Jarvis Boies (1798-1892) owned this house in 1874 when th map of Chester was drawn. He was married to Nancy Gibbs, the sister of Spellman Gibbs with whom he was in business for many years. He held nearly all the town offices, was a representative to the State Assembly, and according to Kate Silliman, "had an unspotted reputation during his sixty years residence in Chester." After the turn of the century, Robert Wilcox, son of Joseph and Anna Wilcox, owned the house and mademany changes in it. He had made a fortune in panama, buying crude rubber to export to the United States. the house was then converted into a convlescent home, and in the late 1950s was bought by the Lieberman family. It is familiarly known as Chsterfields. Source: "The Houses & History of Chester", The Chester Historical Society, Inc., September 1984.
