used to be a touristic resort and a small comercial town before 1940, inhabited by germans(over 40%),jews and romanians.main religion was the catholicism followed by judaism and orthodox christians. Now tries really hard to reconnect with the touristic past,the natural setting and the mild climate contributing to this. Best place as a base for visiting the northern moldavian monasteries(Bucovina monasteries) Voronet,Humor,Arbore,Sucevita,Moldovita.
