The palace was built in 1905 by the fifth Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Alauddin Sulaiman (1898 - 1938) on a 13 acre land and has two levels with 15 rooms for countless royal functions. The Sultan lived in the palace for 35 years. Cengal wood and marble were used during the construction of this palace. See family portraits of the royal family that have been placed on the walls. The architecture of the palace is based on Malay design with sharp roof lines, curved windows and ornately decorated stone staircases and with the influence of Chinese, Indian, European and Islamic features. The last significant occasion of this palace was the installation of Sultan Sulaiman. He then decided to move his official residence to Klang. Bandar is a remote village with a small population. It was at this palace too, that the seventh Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, was born in 1926. Entrance fee: free. Open every day from 8 am to 6 pm.
